Forms found in nature provide the source material for much of my gestural abstraction. Working primarily on paper from memory, sketches, and photographs, I make images inspired by my observations of nature's own drawing-like phenomena and sinuous associations; creating motifs of organic gestures that circulate, cross, entangle, and shapes that gather and separate. Progressing intuitively as I draw or paint, I explore rhythms, semi-patterns, and aggregation. I also have been working with simple grids, and to a lesser extent concentric rings, because I like their inherent associations to organization, mapping, time, and influence.
